Hello, FEB!
DEPOK – On Monday (19/8), Graduate Program in Economics, FEB UI (Program Pasca Sarjana Ilmu Ekonomi/PPIE FEB UI) held a seminar session about how to be successfully accepted at BIES (The Bulletin of Indonesian Economic Studies) at the postgraduate building. The seminar was opened by Mr. Teguh Dartanto, Ph.D. (Head of Department of Economics) and delivered by Sean Muir (The Associate Editor of BIES). The seminar was attended by FEB UI lecturers, Ph.D. candidates, and master students.
In brief, BIES was in the top of 15 (20%) area studies journal by impact factor in August 2019 (with an impact factor of 1.517). Its is in the top 20% in the development category, according to Scopus (with a Citescoreof 2.00). BIES has been published since 1965 and is the leading journal on the Indonesian economy and society.
In this seminar, Mr.Sean first explained about the introduction such as the reason why students submit to BIES, comparable
journals, what BIES publishes, the reader of BIES, and how to avoid the rejection. After that, the session discussed about good writing tips for BIES, how the author improve their writing, the effective title, abstract, and introduction, logical structure and appropriate content, theoretical context and implications, careful analysis and interpretation, and ended by the technical explanation about what students have to do before and after submitting. The session was continued by the questions and answers section.
