The 12th ASEAN and 2nd ASEAN + 3 YOUTH CULTURAL FORUM

The ASEAN Youth Cultural Forum (AYCF) is an activity organised by the ASEAN University Network (AUN).  The Forum is designed for the youth in ASEAN to reflect their deepest values of cultures and to offer a unique opportunity to promote the regional solidarity and identity.  It is hosted annually by a member university on a rotational basis.  In accordance with the successful establishment of the ASEAN+3 University Network (ASEAN+3 UNet) in 2012, the formerly ASEAN Youth Cultural Forum invited members universities from Plus Three countries to join the 11th ASEAN and 1st ASEAN+3 Youth Cultural Forum at Universiti Malaya, Malaysia.  Therefore, in 2014, Universitas Indonesia will be the host of the 12th ASEAN and 2nd ASEAN+3 Youth Cultural Forum.

 

This Year AYCF will be held on 7 to 12 September 2014 at Balairung UI. With the participation of 22 Universities from 12 countries, AYCF aims to built ASEAN Community that is people-oriented and socially responsible with a view to achieving enduring solidarity and unity among the peoples and Member States of ASEAN. It seeks to forge a common identity and build a caring and sharing society which is inclusive and where the well-being, livelihood, and welfare of the peoples are enhanced especially through it Youth people.

 

In this year AYCF theme “Welcoming ASEAN Community through Cultural Diversity”, UI focused to strengthen the friendship among the youth of ASEAN.  ASEAN is a region of immense and colourful cultural diversity, one that shares common historical threads.  ASEAN Member States promote cooperation in culture to help build an ASEAN identity. They seek to promote ASEAN awareness and a sense of community, preserve and promote ASEAN cultural heritage, promote cultural creativity and industry, and engage with the community.

Main Programme

The main programme aims to educate the youth in ASEAN+3 nations on various aspects of Indonesian culture, both traditional and contemporary, in innovative and interactive ways. In order to maximize learning, participants are expected to learn a little bit about Indonesia before they arrive so that prior knowledge can be either reinforced or challenged.

The four main activities consist of:
