UI PetroChallenge 2018
Background
UI PetroChallenge 2018 is an innovative two-day hands-on educational event, open for university
students who want to understand the overall business of Oil and Gas. Using NExT’s OilSim online
business simulator teams of 4 students will become Oil and Gas companies, looking to explore and
develop an oil or gas field. Each company will compete and collaborate using essential soft skills to
create good reputations and company values. Leadership, Communication, Analysis, Decision Making,
Teamwork and Management, Marketing, Negotiations and Long Term Strategy are all essential skills
that will be needed and developed within the competition. Each team aims to create revenue through
their decision making -finding oil and gas and earning Credibility Points by considering their
environmental, social and corporate responsibilities.
Purpose
Developing students’ knowledge of the oil and gas industry and bridging the gap between academia and
industry, by preparing them for potential careers in oil and gas.
